"I went to
the Brazilian Carnival night yesterday at Bar Fresa. I have to say on behalf
of everyone I was there with, it was the best night out we have had since
arriving in Liverpool for University. I've never had so much fun and more
in my life! It was fantastic. Really brilliant!"

with Brazilian singer Joyce visiting Liverpool for a low key event marred
by an indifferent audience talking amongst each other and prompting Joyce
to stop her set and comment about the ignorant behaviour..... 2006 sees
the return to liverpool of respected DJ, DJ Juanito (John Rowlands), and
his beautiful Brazilian wife Pilar dos Santos, who presented their carnival
night this last Friday to a packed Bar Fresa, the dancefloor vibrating seismically
to the sounds of DJ Juanitos samba grooves along with a display by Liverpool
based Capoeiristas , and samba reggae band Batala, whose thunderous, sensitive
sound, rocked the house during two blistering sets of drumming while a feather-clad
Pilar wowed us with her mesmeric samba dancing...a great night enjoyed by
a fine mix of locals (not really- DJ Juanito), Latin Americans and Brazilian
students. The next one is proposed for the end of March/beginning of April.
One to watch out for and I'm sure it will be as well attended, especially
when the word gets around on this one!!! Check John and Pilar on his website
